About us
South Downs Oak Ltd is owned by Mark Saban and Lee Radnedge who both share a love of Oak and all things made from it. The thought of working with this great material drew us both to be trained by Adam Baker of Oakheath in Shropshire in the art of traditional Oak framing. From humble beginnings we have built up a comprehensive knowledge and a workshop able to deal with any project that may be required.
Based in Four Marks, Hampshire on the northern fringes of the South Downs National Park we specialise in the manufacture of traditional green oak frames. From new Oak framed porches and summer rooms to garages and extensions our aim is to provide a product of the highest quality. The timber we use is from sustainable sources in southern England and France.
An Oak frame is environmentally friendly and will last for many even hundreds of years to come.
We can assist with the design process and with applications for planning permission and building regulations. For this we use the services of a local highly respected Chartered Building Surveyor who produces all drawings and submits the relevant applications.
We also make gates with or without automation in hardwoods such as Iroko, Sapele, Idigbo and Canadian Western Red Cedar which is a softwood but they are all very durable. Garage and pedestrian doors are also made to compliment our buildings. We provide a full Installation service and are fully qualified automation installers so we can automate both gates and garage doors if required.
